Clinic Policies

H.E.A.R.T., Inc. is a small nonprofit clinic with limited appointment capacity. Our mission is to reduce shelter intake and euthanasia by increasing access to veterinary care for pet owners who otherwise could not afford it — helping pets stay healthy, stay home, and stay with the people who love them. The policies below help us make sure our limited resources reach the clients and pets our mission is designed to serve.

 Eligibility & Breeder Policy

Because our resources are limited, our services are reserved for income limited pet owners in our community. Breeders do not qualify for our general veterinary services (including vaccines, wellness exams, and routine care), as intentional breeding is a discretionary, income-generating activity that falls outside our mission.

We do offer spay/neuter services to breeding pets, along with any services provided in direct conjunction with that procedure, as this supports our core mission of reducing shelter intake.

If we discover that an individual using our services is a breeder we will discontinue services to them immediately. Any previously scheduled appointments will be cancelled.

 Right to Refuse Service

H.E.A.R.T., Inc. reserves the right to refuse treatment, service, or appointments to any client at our discretion. This includes, but is not limited to, situations where:

  • A client isn't income limited
  • A client has misrepresented their eligibility or circumstances
  • A client's needs fall outside the scope of our mission or services
  • A client engages in behavior toward our staff, volunteers, or other clients that is abusive, threatening, or disrespectful
  • Continuing to serve a client would compromise our ability to serve other pet owners in need, given our limited capacity and resources

We appreciate the community's understanding as we work to use our resources responsibly and equitably.
